Vincent Icasiano: Building Relationships Through Leadership

At Alexander Spencer, our team of directors brings a wealth of experience and a shared vision for growth that benefits both our clients and our people. Vincent Icasiano, who joined the firm as a Director in July 2022, embodies this spirit through his deep commitment to client service, leadership, and mentorship.

With nearly 30 years of experience in accounting, Vincent’s journey began in public practice, where he worked with both smaller and mid-tier firms. After gaining extensive industry knowledge, he leapt to establish his practice, an entrepreneurial step that allowed him to build his client base and lead a small team of accountants.

“I loved it,” Vincent reflects. “Having my team and clients gave me a strong sense of purpose, but I also knew I wanted to take things further.”

That opportunity came in the form of Alexander Spencer. Vincent had studied accounting with Sevan, the Managing Director, and the two had often discussed the possibility of working together. After COVID-19 reshaped many business landscapes, the timing aligned. Vincent merged his practice with Alexander Spencer, bringing his clients and expertise to a broader platform.

Now one of four directors and a key member of the management team, Vincent has embraced the expanded capabilities of the firm.

Client Relationships and Strategic Insight

Today, Vincent oversees Alexander Spencer’s SMSF and private client accounting divisions and manages a portfolio of small business and family group clients, many of whom he has worked with for years. His approach to client service focuses on more than just numbers. With a larger team behind him, Vincent is free to explore clients’ goals on a more strategic level.

“It’s exciting to have those deeper conversations on what clients want to achieve in life, where they’re heading. That’s where real value is created,” he shares.

Leadership, Culture, and Team Development

Internally, Vincent plays a critical role in HR and risk and compliance functions. Coming from a smaller practice, he admits he hadn’t expected to enjoy the larger team environment as much as he does.

“Working with such a diverse team, from juniors to seniors, has been incredibly rewarding. I love the opportunity to train, mentor, and see others grow. It’s one of the best parts of being here.”

Through his leadership, Vincent supports team development and ensures that staff at all levels have the resources and guidance to thrive. His involvement in risk and compliance also ensures the firm maintains its high standards of quality and client service.

A Broader Vision for Clients

Vincent is now able to support clients at every stage of their journey, from business inception to succession planning and retirement.

“Previously, I was limited by capacity and scope. Now, we can walk with clients through their entire business and life journey. That makes the work far more interesting and meaningful.”

Vincent’s career reflects a blend of entrepreneurial drive, deep client understanding, and a passion for people, whether they are clients or team members. His transition from sole practitioner to Director at Alexander Spencer has allowed him to scale his impact, enriching the firm’s offering and contributing to a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and strategic growth.
