Biography

An experienced SMSF accountant and manager, Sonia has specialised in Self Managed Superannuation Funds since beginning her career in 2007. Over nearly two decades, she has developed extensive expertise across SMSF administration, taxation and compliance, including supporting high-net-worth clients and complex fund requirements.

Sonia began her career with a boutique accounting firm in Perth, which later merged with PKF Perth. After moving to Melbourne in 2015, she progressed through senior SMSF accounting and management roles with Anderson Partners, WHM Partners and Carbon Group. She was drawn to SMSFs because of the combination of technical expertise, taxation, legislation and strategic planning involved, as well as the opportunity to help trustees make informed decisions about their retirement.

Sonia joined Alexander Spencer for the opportunity to take on greater leadership responsibilities and contribute to the growth of the firm’s SMSF capability. As Self Managed Super Fund Manager, she manages a portfolio of SMSFs from start to finish, overseeing financial statements, income tax returns, fund compliance and ongoing client support. She also mentors and supports the firm’s internal and offshore teams on technical SMSF matters.

Sonia’s approach is centred on building long-term client relationships through trust, clear communication and exceptional service. By understanding each client’s circumstances and objectives, she provides proactive, practical guidance to help them confidently navigate their SMSF obligations and work towards their retirement goals.

Outside of work, Sonia enjoys movies, swimming, outdoor activities and travelling with her family.
